Sri Lanka Parliamentary Budgeting

On June 2-5, 2026, the House Democracy Partnership and Congressional Budget Office staff traveled to Colombo to support Sri Lanka’s ongoing effort to establish an independent Parliamentary Budget Office under the 2023 PBO Act. Over several days of briefings and workshops, the delegation met with Members of Parliament, committee staff, and parliamentary leadership to share best practices for nonpartisan budget and economic analysis. The discussions generated strong cross‑party engagement and HDP looks forward to continued collaboration as Parliament advances this important governance reform.
