ParlAmericas Panel

On March 12, HDP’s Executive Director Derek Luyten moderated an esteemed panel with ParlAmericas on parliamentary diplomacy as a tool for strengthening regional democracies. More than 20 Members of Parliament representing 20 countries from across the Western Hemisphere were meeting at the Organization of American States in Washington, DC.

Welcome remarks for the panel were provided by Senator Blanca Ovelar from Paraguay, and Deputy Chief of Mission to the OAS Thomas Hastings. Panelists were U.S. Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Argentina MP Margarita Stolbizer, U.S. Ambassador Hattie Babbitt, and Dominica Speaker Joseph T. Isaac. Concluding remarks were provided by Guatemalan MP Andrea Villagran.
