Advancing Women’s Political Leadership in Parliament Seminar

From August 29-31, 2023, the House Democracy Partnership (HDP) organized a Women’s Economic Empowerment Legislator Forum in Viña del Mar, Chile. This event brought together 22 legislators from Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Paraguay, and Peru. Among the notable attendees was Former U.S. Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy.

During the forum, Murphy, Ferrier, and Brown led an engaging session, equipping the legislators with effective communication strategies to promote their legislative agendas. The event also featured a welcome address by U.S. Ambassador to Chile Bernadette Meehan during the opening reception. Participants had the opportunity to visit the National Congress, where a Chilean legislator panel highlighted the effective measures and ongoing legislative initiatives undertaken by their respective countries to advance women’s economic empowerment.
