Chairman Roskam and Ranking Member Price Congratulate Tunisian Peace Prize Winners

WASHINGTON, DC— Today, Chairman Peter Roskam (R-IL) and Ranking Member David Price (D-NC) of the House Democracy Partnership released a statement congratulating the Tunisian National Dialogue Quartet for winning the Nobel Peace Prize. The House Democracy Partnership (HDP) is a bipartisan coalition of Members of Congress who provide parliamentary support in young democracies around the world. Ranking Member Price served as an international election monitor during the Tunisian presidential election last December.

"As leaders of the House Democracy Partnership, (1) strongly supports the right of the people of Ukraine to freely elect their government and determine their future; (2) urges the Administration to expedite assistance to Ukraine to facilitate the political, economic, and social reforms necessary for free and fair elections that meet international standards; and (3) condemns attempts on the part of outside forces, specifically the Government of Russia, its agents and supporters, to interfere in Ukraine's elections, including through intimidation, violence, or coercion.we congratulate the members of the National Dialogue Quartet on their historic achievement," said Chairman Roskam and Ranking Member Price. "Thanks in no small part to their outstanding work, Tunisia is a democratic beacon of hope in the region, building a future as a parliamentary democracy. We are very pleased that the Nobel Committee has recognized the leadership of civil society in this remarkable story, and we call on the international community to redouble its commitment to supporting the Tunisian people as they build a brighter future."
